SIGNAL/LEDGER is an AI trading-research terminal. A user hands the agent a topic and a fixed USDC budget, and lib/agent/research-agent.ts decides which paid data sources to call, streaming reasoning, tool calls, and report fragments to the Next.js frontend over SSE. Every paid call flows through the x402 layer in lib/x402/with-payment.ts and lib/x402/payment-recorder.ts, and lib/x402/payment-settlement.ts aggregates pending intents into batched settlements keyed by lib/x402/idempotency-key.ts. Arc receipts are encoded and verified in lib/chain/arc-receipt.ts with EIP-712 signing support in lib/chain/eip712.ts. Foundry contracts under contracts/src cover escrow, registry, and factory modules, and finished reports support payment tracing plus follow-up Q&A via lib/agent/research-follow-up.ts.
