Praeco is a pay-per-read publishing platform where a single article sells for about a cent in USDC on Arc. Paid resources return HTTP 402 via x402 routes under app/api, with Circle Gateway batching through @circle-fin/x402-batching keeping sub-cent payments economical. Readers become citizens holding a custodial wallet minted and pre-funded from a treasury (lib/treasury.ts) and encrypted under a Golden Relic passphrase using scrypt and AES-GCM (lib/relic.ts, lib/crypto.ts), so paying is one click. Writers set per-read prices, add collaborators with automatic revenue splits (app/splits), and withdraw earnings to any address. A Reader-Agent (lib/reader-agent.ts, agent.mts) takes a topic and budget, decides which pieces merit the toll, pays the writers itself, and logs each decision. The Next.js 16 app runs on Neon Postgres with an antiquity-themed editorial UI.
