KERYX is an answer engine that pays its sources. The agent retrieves candidate articles for a question, weighs price against value, unlocks the ones worth reading through x402 payments in src/circle/x402.js and src/circle/gateway.js, and grounds its answer with inline citations. Each citation triggers a sub-cent USDC settlement to the writer via the KeryxSplits Solidity contract in contracts/KeryxSplits.sol, whose registerWork, settleCitation, and settleAnswer functions handle work registration, per-writer splits, and withdrawals on Arc. The agent loop lives in src/agent/loop.js with settlement logic in src/settle/citation.js. A React frontend ships in web/, and scripts/proof.js reads settlement records straight from the chain for independent checking.
