CitePay adds a payment and receipt layer at the citation boundary. The Next.js App Router app imports sources from feeds via lib/feed-items.ts and lib/feed-preview.ts, maps each source to a payee with the readiness model in lib/payee-readiness.ts, and prices citation use. A budgeted research agent in lib/agent-engine.ts decides per source whether to pay, skip, cache, or block, recording every decision. Payments run on two rails through lib/payments and lib/payment-config.ts: a deterministic simulation mode and a Circle/x402 Gateway rail targeting Arc testnet, with reconciliation scripts folding Gateway transfer history into a Supabase ledger. Schemas and architecture notes live in docs/, and a metrics dashboard ships under app/metrics.
